Why I'm building this

Lots of wins.
Lots of gatekeepers.

I've had a lot of success in my career that I'm proud of, but I've also hit a lot of walls. So much of my time goes to proving the worth of my point of view to people who don't get it. Hey Shenee Studios is how I build the work that's fun and meaningful to me, and to folks who look like me, without waiting for approval.

The goal is to start small, but I'm dreaming big: movies, TV, games... the whole deal!

What we make

Rom-coms + genre stories for fangirls

(or fanboys or theys)

The inspiration for this studio is those feel-good comfort movies from the 80s and 90s. Think the movies that came on TNT on Saturday mornings, or Disney Channel Originals, but for adults. Fast, fun movies with heart at the center.

Most of all, the Studio tells stories about people who rarely get to be the main character. The fat best friend. The sassy Black friend. The disabled comic relief. I want to put them front and center, in the kinds of stories that rarely make it through a studio approval process.

Pop culture-obsessed, fun, and with a special nod to the fangirls.

~~The best friend~~ The lead

~~The sidekick~~ The hero

~~Comic relief~~ The love story

Everyone deserves a main character moment!

Where your money goes!

Keeping the lights on

Your support lets me stay independent and focus solely on the studio. My goal is to release most of my projects independently: owned by me, made for you, with no big platform deciding what gets made.

Hiring humans

I'm committed to hiring humans and paying them fairly for their contributions. That means designers, illustrators, filmmakers, and more for this next era.
